Chapter 6 - THE CAMERA THAT DID NOT SHOW THE FALL

Our townhouse service stairs had a camera.

I knew because I paid for it.

The camera did not show the actual stairs.

It showed the service door and landing.

The fall happened below frame.

Still useful.

I checked the system the morning after the fracture.

The clip existed.

Me opening the door.

Trent behind me.

His hand catching my upper arm.

My body jerking backward.

Then both of us disappearing below the camera angle.

No sound.

Not proof of exactly how I fell.

But it contradicted:

She simply slipped while alone.

I copied the clip to my phone.

Then the file disappeared from the home system.

Trent said:

“Camera overwrote.”

Impossible after one day.

I asked the security vendor.

They said a user with administrator credentials manually deleted the local event.

Which user?

Shared household admin account.

Both of us knew the password.

No proof who.

But my copy remained.

That was the first thing Trent eventually wanted from my phone.

Not the last.
