Chapter 17 - ALESSIO’S MISTAKE
My brother made his own serious error.
A private club supplier was partly owned by Trent’s cousin.
Alessio ordered the contract canceled.
Immediately.
No performance issue.
No pricing issue.
No involvement in my case.
His general counsel stopped implementation before final notice.
“Why are we terminating?”
Alessio said:
“Conflict.”
“Which conflict?”
“Walsh.”
The lawyer answered:
“Surname is not cause.”
Alessio hated hearing no.
Useful.
The contract remained until normal review.
At rebid six months later, the cousin’s firm lost to a lower-priced competitor.
Clean.
No revenge.
Alessio told me about his attempted cancellation himself.
“I almost did what I tell everyone I don’t do.”
“What?”
“Made one man’s guilt hereditary.”
I smiled slightly.
“Good catch.”
“Counsel caught it.”
