Chapter 21 - THE PLEA OFFER

The prosecutor offered Trent a plea before trial.
Counts would resolve around:
Domestic assault or unlawful restraint associated with the stair incident.
Property damage and attempted coercive entry at the club.
A coercion-related misdemeanor tied to trying to obtain my phone and pressure me into the false statement.
No attempted murder.
No kidnapping.
No giant conspiracy.
Recommended:
Defined custodial component potentially served locally.
Probation.
Domestic-violence intervention.
Restitution.
No unlawful contact.
Trent rejected one factual sentence:
“Sylvia fell because Trent pulled or restrained her as she attempted to leave.”
He wanted:
“Sylvia fell during physical contact initiated in a marital argument.”
Passive language.
Nobody caused anything.
The prosecutor refused.
Trial.
I wished he had taken the plea.
Not because I wanted mercy.
