Chapter 23 - THE TRIAL BEGINS WITH A DOOR

The prosecution began with the bathroom.
Not the staircase.
Cleaner evidence.
The club hallway video played.
Me entering bathroom.
Trent following.
Door closing.
His hand trying the handle.
First shoulder strike.
Second.
Third.
Audio:
“Nobody is coming for you.”
My call barely audible through the door.
“Alessio… upstairs.”
Another strike.
Door opening inward.
Trent stepping through.
Alessio arriving.
Pulling him backward.
Then:
“She fell. This stays inside the family.”
That sentence connected the bathroom to the earlier injury without proving the earlier injury by itself.
The prosecutor did not call it confession.
Good.
Then the club carpenter.
Door damage.
No lock defect.
Force sufficient to crack frame.
Then my medical record from that night.
Bruising on good forearm.
No new fracture.
No invented injuries.
Defense asked:
“Did Trent strike Sylvia in the bathroom?”
“No.”
“Did he have a weapon?”
“No.”
“Did he threaten to kill her?”
“No.”
Good.
The facts did not need inflation.
Then the stairs.
Townhouse clip.
Guard.
Text.
Medical record where I said I fell.
Defense displayed the exact line.
Patient reports mechanical fall.
There it was.

My own first statement.
The jury deserved it.
