Elegant.
Patient.
The kind of attorney wealthy families mistake for furniture because he is present everywhere and speaks only when needed.
He had managed Eleanor’s estate.
Helped establish my charitable foundation.
Reviewed investments.
Signed annual trust certifications.
He had hugged me at Mom’s funeral.
Sarah claimed he sent her a letter threatening legal action if she came to my property.
The letter bore his firm letterhead.
Was it real?
Mara obtained a copy from Sarah’s hidden files.
Warren denied sending it.
Then metadata tied the original template to his office system.
His explanation:
Marcus may have obtained old correspondence.
Possible.
Then investigators found billing entries.
“Carter family communications management.”
Client number linked to Marcus Kane’s consulting company.
Warren’s attorney stopped the interview.
That was when I understood this would not remain a domestic-violence case.
Someone inside our family infrastructure had helped Marcus isolate Sarah.
