The person I trusted most after Warren was Thomas Reed.
My financial manager.
He had worked with me for fifteen years.
Thomas called after news broke.
“Nathan, don’t sign anything.”
Good advice.
Then:
“Sarah’s situation could contaminate foundation assets.”
That phrase bothered me.
“Contaminate?”
“Legally.”
“Explain.”

Mostly charitable commitments and donor-advised funds.
Sarah had once held a voting seat through Mom’s estate.
Her 2019 resignation allowed Warren and Thomas to restructure governance.
“Was her resignation forged too?”
Thomas went silent.
“I don’t know.”
That was the wrong answer.
He had notarized the acceptance.
Investigation found Sarah’s signature was copied.
Thomas claimed Warren assured him she signed remotely.
Did Thomas know?
Evidence mixed.
He had certainly failed to verify.
He had also benefited.
His management company received increased fees after Sarah’s departure.
$420,000 over seven years above prior compensation.
Not proof of conspiracy.
Motive to avoid questions.
I suspended him pending independent review.
He called it betrayal.
