Marcus Kane was arrested four days after the storm.
Not in some dramatic border chase.
At a motel outside Spokane.
He had dyed his hair badly.
Used cash.
Tried to buy a prepaid phone.
A motel clerk recognized his photograph.
Police found:
$18,000 cash.
Sarah’s passport.
Two children’s birth certificates.
A handgun legally purchased years earlier but prohibited under circumstances being investigated.
Laptop.
Trust documents.
A one-way flight search to Mexico.
No babies.
No Lily.
Whatever plan he had after attacking Sarah, the children were intended to remain leverage.
His first statement through counsel:
Sarah attacked him with the bottle.
He acted defensively.
Lily fled in panic due to Sarah’s instability.
Trust disputes were marital finances.
The children belonged with their father.
Belonged.
Family court entered immediate protective orders.
Marcus received no contact.
