Chapter 25 - MY TESTIMONY
I testified at the hospital review and later in court about the emergency presentation.
Only what I knew.
Vitals.
Cast condition.
Clinical necessity.
Statements made in my presence.
I did not tell jurors Greg was evil.
Not my expertise.
The defense asked:
“Dr. Jenkins, you have personal history involving a prior child-abuse case?”
“Yes.”
“Did that make you predisposed to suspect abuse?”
“It made me alert to the possibility.”
“Could it bias you?”
“Yes.”
That answer surprised him.
“Yet you called security immediately.”
“Because the child was in shock, the cast required emergency removal, and his mother physically attempted to stop treatment.”
“Before you knew abuse occurred.”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because emergency stabilization could not safely wait.”
