Chapter 16 - THE NINTH BIRTHDAY REVIEW

Caleb would turn nine in six weeks.

Andrew’s trust contained a child-welfare review at ages nine, twelve, fifteen, and eighteen.

At nine, an independent child advocate had to meet Caleb privately before caregiver arrangements and extraordinary medical reimbursements continued.

Martha knew.

Greg knew.

The advocate had already emailed.

Caleb would be asked about:

School.

Home.

Medical care.

Who lived with him.

Whether he felt safe.

The fraudulent treatment bills were about to become vulnerable.

Greg’s answer was not to kill Caleb.

Evidence never showed that.

His plan was to have Caleb appear medically fragile and unable to participate fully.

A draft email:

Caleb currently suffering complex orthopedic complications and anxiety. Request review be postponed 90 days.
