A year passed.
Taryn's career changed completely.
She started her own hospitality company.
It was smaller than the Fairmont group.
But it belonged to her.
She created a workplace where employees could speak freely.
She refused to tolerate favoritism.
She established transparent financial systems.
And every year, she hosted a small community birthday event for children whose families couldn't afford elaborate parties.
Lula helped choose the decorations.
The first year, they served simple cake.
The second year, Lula insisted every child receive a gift.
Taryn laughed.
“You're going to bankrupt me.”
Lula grinned.
“No, Mommy. We're sharing.”
