Chapter 14 - The Family Meeting

Doreen demanded a family meeting.
Everyone came.
Taryn arrived with her attorney.
Lula stayed with a trusted friend nearby.
Doreen sat at the head of the table.
“You've caused enough damage.”
Taryn placed the documents on the table.
“No. I discovered enough damage.”
Doreen glanced at them.
Her expression changed.
“You went through private records.”
“Records involving my daughter.”
“This is family business.”
“My daughter is family.”
Nobody spoke.
Taryn turned toward the relatives.
“You all watched what happened at her birthday.”
Some looked down.
One aunt whispered an apology.
Taryn shook her head.
“I don't need apologies.”
She looked at Doreen.
“I need accountability.”
Doreen laughed.
“You think a few documents make you powerful?”
Taryn replied quietly.
“No.”
