Chapter 19 - The Choice

The legal proceedings continued.
Taryn could have demanded everything.
She could have destroyed Doreen publicly.
Instead, she asked the attorney to focus on recovering the assets and protecting Lula's trust.
She wanted the truth documented.
She didn't want to become like her mother.
That decision surprised everyone.
When asked why, Taryn answered:
“Because my daughter needs a mother, not another person obsessed with winning.”
The attorney smiled.
“That may be the most important thing you've said.”
Taryn looked out the window.
Lula was playing in the garden.
For the first time, Taryn wasn't afraid of what Doreen might do.
She had boundaries.
She had evidence.
