Chapter 8 - THE SECOND SIGNATURE

Forensic review confirmed the signatures on transfers two through six were digitally copied from Daniel’s original authorization.
Same pixel pattern.
Same compression artifact.
No handwriting expert needed to guess.
Submission account belonged to Karen.
Secondary verification codes had been sent to Helen’s phone.
I stared at Robert.
“Helen?”
“She says Karen told her Daniel had already agreed.”
“How many codes?”
“Five.”
“All five?”
“Yes.”
“And she never called him?”
“No.”
“Why?”
Robert looked exhausted.
“She trusted Karen.”
“No.”
I shook my head.
“She preferred Karen’s answer.”
That distinction mattered.
Helen had not created the forms.
Evidence did not show that.
She had approved authentication codes without verifying.
