Chapter 26 - MICAH’S OWN FAMILY
Micah married at thirty-one.
Her name was Hannah Brooks.
A pediatric physical therapist.
No Keller connection.
No Vale connection.
No investor.
Just Hannah.
They had a daughter, Ella.
Then a son, Sam.
Micah did not automatically make them Keller trust beneficiaries through some “true heir” language.
The reformed trust used:
Descendant beneficiaries.
No gender.
No legitimacy hierarchy.
No favored first child.
Independent governance.
Micah insisted.
When Ella was three, she went through a phase of eating under the kitchen table.
Because it was a fort.
The first time I saw her, my body froze.
Micah noticed.
“Mom.”
“I know.”
Ella held a cracker.
“Grandma Audrey, come in.”
I crawled under.
My knees hated me.
She laughed.
