Chapter 20 - AUDREY WITHOUT THE ESTATE

People online called me the woman who froze the Keller fortune.
I hated it.
The emergency phone call leaked through a guest.
“Freeze all assets tied to this estate.”
It became a quote.
Articles called me secret owner.
False.
I was never owner.
I was protector.
Temporary emergency authority.
Then shared.
Eventually ending.
I gave one interview only because misinformation threatened employees.
“The estate belongs to a trust. I did not seize it. The freeze preserved extraordinary transfers while an independent review occurred.”
Boring.
Necessary.
Vale Meridian continued.
I resumed travel gradually.
First one night.
Then three.
Micah stayed with a professional nanny he knew and trusted.
He video-called me because he wanted.
Not because I demanded proof he was okay.
The first trip, I checked cameras twelve times.
Then remembered surveillance can become another form of control.
I stopped at four.
Progress.
Micah asked:
“Mommy come back?”
“Yes. Friday.”
“Promise?”
“Yes.”
Some promises can be exact.
Friday.
Flight.
Home.
I came back Thursday night once.
May you like
He laughed.
Early became good again.
