Chapter 7 - I BREAK THE LOCKS TOO EARLY

I changed every exterior code at the estate the night after the hospital.
Loretta had already left.
Her suitcases were at a hotel.
Still, she had keys.
Claudia remained in the house because child welfare had not ordered her out, and I had not yet decided whether she could stay.
I changed codes.
Smart locks.
Garage.
Gate.
Then removed Loretta’s access from the estate security list.
That part was within my authority as owner.
Then I went too far.
I instructed security:
“If Claudia leaves, she does not return.”
She had not been legally evicted.
She had belongings inside.
She had been living there temporarily with permission.
My attorney, Samuel Reeve, called.
“You cannot improvise tenancy law because you’re angry.”
“It’s my house.”
“Ownership does not erase process.”
“She helped put my daughter in storage.”
“Then use protective orders and lawful notice.”
I hated hearing it.
Still corrected.
Claudia was permitted controlled access while counsel worked out occupancy.
No contact with Isolde.
No entering the east hall.
No touching medical equipment.
No interference with staff.

I sent written notice.
My power did not need to become chaos.
