Chapter 6 - THE PRIVATE SCHOOL BROCHURE

Police found no secret institution.
No hidden dungeon.
They found brochures.
A residential pediatric rehabilitation school in Massachusetts.
Legitimate.
Accredited.
Designed for children with complex mobility conditions who genuinely required intensive therapy and academic support.
Isolde did not meet that profile.
Loretta had requested an intake packet anyway.
She described Isolde as:
“Unable to manage normal household mobility.”
“Resistant to outpatient therapy.”
“Emotionally dependent on father.”
“Needing structured independence.”
None of that came from Seth Mallory.
The intake coordinator replied:
“We require treating physician recommendations and functional assessment.”
Loretta had not obtained them.
So she began trying to create the appearance of need.
Canceled therapy.
Brace conflicts.
Bedroom move.
More stairs.
More fatigue.
More “proof” that Isolde could not function normally at the estate.
Not enough for admission.
But enough, Loretta believed, to pressure me.
Then one email to Claudia:
If Valentino sees she cannot function here, he will accept twelve weeks away.
Claudia replied:
He won’t.
Loretta:
He will when doctors say it.
Claudia:
Doctors haven’t.
Loretta:
Then give them facts.
The phrase made me cold.
May you like
Facts.
Manufactured by changing the child’s environment.
