Chapter 13 - CHILD WELFARE DOES NOT HAND ME A MEDAL

The child-protection investigator did not treat me like a hero.

Good.

She asked:

“Why was Isolde left with Loretta when you knew Loretta objected to the brace?”

“I underestimated it.”

“Why did you not verify therapy attendance?”

“I trusted them.”

“Why did staff believe Loretta could override your child’s care?”

“Because I let her run the house.”

That answer hurt.

Then:

“Do you plan to leave Isolde with extended family during future travel?”

“Not without independent caregiver authority and direct medical access.”

Better.

A new nanny was hired.

Professional background check.

Written medical plan.

Direct portal access remained mine.

Loretta removed from scheduling permission.

Claudia too.

No family member automatically became caregiver because of surname.

The safety plan closed after several months.

No removal.

No allegation I physically harmed Isolde.

Still, the investigation changed the house.

Necessary.
