Chapter 5 - THREE MISSING THERAPY SESSIONS
Isolde had physical therapy twice weekly.
Three appointments had been canceled.
I received no notification because the clinic had been told:
“Parent traveling. Grandmother coordinating.”
Who told them?
Loretta.
Did the clinic have authorization to speak with her?
Yes.
I had signed a temporary caregiver consent for scheduling and transportation.
Not medical decision-making.
Not cancellation of prescribed therapy indefinitely.
Still, staff accepted her changes.
First cancellation:
“Family conflict.”
Second:
“Child exhausted.”
Third:
“Brace irritation.”
None true.
Then one rescheduled appointment Isolde attended.
The therapist documented:
Patient reports grandmother discourages brace use at home.
That note had been sent through the portal.
I had not seen it.
Why?
Because I was logging into the wrong family account?
No.
Because Loretta had changed the notification email on the scheduling profile to her own while coordinating appointments.
The medical record itself remained unchanged.
I could still access it.
I had not checked.
