Chapter 4 - CLAUDIA KNEW
Claudia denied taking Isolde’s room maliciously.
She said:
“I thought it was temporary.”
Then police showed her staff messages.
CLAUDIA:
Move the child’s books somewhere else. I need shelves.
House manager:
Mr. Corsetti approved?
CLAUDIA:
Mother did.
House manager:
I’ll confirm with Mr. Corsetti.
CLAUDIA:
Do not bother him during Chicago.
There.
Then another.
CLAUDIA:
The brace scratches the wood floor. Put felt on it or keep her out.
House manager:
Dr. Mallory says she needs brace while walking.
CLAUDIA:
Then she can stay on carpet.
The storage room had carpet.
Suddenly the choice of room looked less accidental.
Then:
CLAUDIA:
She woke me at 5 asking for bathroom help. This is not sustainable.
Loretta:
Children adapt.
Claudia:
She should be somewhere with nurses until she walks normally.
That sentence mattered later.
Claudia did not create Loretta’s philosophy.
She benefited from it.
