Chapter 13 - MALCOLM

Malcolm Reed had worked for my family twenty-one years.

My father trusted him.

I did too.

He knew passwords.

Properties.

Vendors.

Family scandals.

When confronted, he said:

“Mrs. Sterling believed Alexander’s European travel presented security concerns.”

Nonsense.

“Why notify North Coast of my death?”

“We did not.”

Daniel showed him email.

Malcolm stared.

“That was a draft.”

“It was sent.”

Silence.

“Who sent it?”

“I don’t know.”
