Maybe Sophie is better without me.
Kara nodded.
“I wrote that.”
“You considered abandoning her.”
“I considered whether I was harming her.”
“You used drugs.”
“Yes.”
“You relapsed.”
“Yes.”
“You disappeared.”
“Sometimes.”
No polished victim.
Then:
“Did any of that give Dennis permission to tell my daughter I was dead?”
“No.”
