Julian denied authorizing Maya’s flight.
Victoria claimed she bought the ticket because she feared I would “disappear with the child.”
The airline record showed payment from a Vance corporate account.
The approver was Victor.
The court suspended Julian’s visits until the travel plan was explained.
He retaliated through money.
Our joint accounts were frozen under a marital-asset petition. My credit cards stopped working. The townhouse mortgage payment failed despite sufficient funds.
Harrison offered family money.
I refused.
Accepting help meant explaining everything to Lena, and I was still resisting the truth.
I searched Julian’s home office with court-approved supervision.
Most drawers were empty.
Beneath his desk, the examiner found impressions left on a paper pad.
M.V. TRUST — SPOUSAL PROXY REQUIRED.
CHILD BENEFICIARY VOTING RIGHTS.
EMERGENCY CHANNEL MUST BE ACTIVE.
None of the phrases explained themselves.
Julian claimed they concerned a client.
He had never worked in trusts.
The same examiner recovered fragments from his deleted calendar.
PROJECT THREAD.
Dinner rehearsal.
Genevieve confirmation.
Victoria handles child.
My stomach turned.
They had assigned roles.
Still, the plan’s purpose remained hidden.
Then Lena found a draft marital agreement on Julian’s laptop. It required me to transfer all voting authority over any “current or future Blackwood-associated interests” to him.
My father’s name did not appear.
My signature did.
It had been copied from a school form.
The document was incomplete and unsigned by witnesses. It could not transfer anything.
It proved intent.
Julian had been preparing to claim control over assets he publicly insisted did not exist.
That evening, he called from a blocked number.
“I never wanted Genevieve to hit Maya.”
“You gave Victoria a role involving our child.”
“I needed you to activate the channel.”
“Why?”
“Because my father is running out of time.”
Before I could ask what that meant, Harrison seized the phone from my hand and ended the call.
“You revealed that we recovered the project notes.”
“I needed an answer.”
