Chapter 22 - THE FUNERAL VIDEO

Years later, the clip from Sofia’s funeral leaked.

Vanessa:

“Where is she?”

Me:

“In the coffin.”

Then my phone.

Then:

“Bury Sofia first…”

It went viral.

I hated every second.

People made edits.

Music.

Captions.

“Savage mother destroys cheating husband.”

They turned my daughter’s funeral into entertainment.

My attorneys sent takedowns where possible.

Impossible everywhere.

I gave one public statement:

“The video shows the worst morning of my life. Please stop using my daughter’s funeral as revenge content.”

Some stopped.

Many didn’t.

I learned the internet does not confuse consent with access.

The original funeral recording had been made by the church for family members who could not attend.

I asked them to delete public-access copies.

They did.

My own phone video remained evidence.

I sealed Sofia’s personal footage through court where possible.

The slap video remained part of public trial record in limited form.

I could not erase law.

But I could refuse to monetize it.

No documentary.

No memoir then.

No speaking tour.

Grief did not owe a business model.
