Eudora asked to send June a letter.
June was an infant.
Obviously she could not read.
Tessa said:
“No.”
Eudora’s lawyer suggested a letter preserved for later.
Tessa still said no.
Then months passed.
Tessa changed her mind.
One letter.
Held by counsel.
Not delivered now.
Eudora wrote:
June,
When you were six weeks old, I did something dangerous while angry at your mother.
I had convinced myself that because I loved the Marlow family and wanted to protect your place in it, I knew what was best.
I did not.
Your mother was protecting you.
I treated her boundaries as disrespect.
I also encouraged Brielle’s attachment to you in ways that were unfair to both of you.
You owe me no relationship when you are older.
Tessa read it.
Then put it in a sealed file.
No forgiveness.
