Chapter 21 - MY ASSAULT CASE

Lisa finally filed a complaint about my slap.

Fair.

I had hit her.

The video and witness statements showed she struck Owen first.

That did not automatically justify my retaliation after Owen was safe.

My lawyer negotiated a misdemeanor diversion resolution.

Anger-management counseling.

Community service.

Dismissal after completion if I stayed out of trouble.

I accepted.

People told me:

“You shouldn’t have. She deserved it.”

No.

I wanted Owen to learn something better.

Lisa’s assault on him was handled separately.

Minor injury.

No prior criminal history.

She received consequences through a plea on a lower-level assault-related count plus child-contact restrictions during the broader family case.

Not prison theater.
