Chapter 13 - LISA’S CHILDREN

Lisa had two children.
Ava, twelve.
Miles, nine.
They were not at the dinner.
Sleepover with friends.
Thank God.
I had no issue with them.
I wanted that clear because extended family had begun choosing teams.
One aunt said:
“Lisa’s family benefited.”
Children are not balance sheets.
Ava and Miles did not forge my signature.
They did not ask Grant to overexpand.
They did not slap Owen.
When Lisa’s accounts froze temporarily during the audit, I asked Westbridge to protect school and medical distributions for the kids.
Martin looked surprised.
“Why?”
“Because they’re children.”
“Lisa may argue this undermines your claim of harm.”
May you like
“No. It proves I know who harmed me.”
That felt important.
