Chapter 11 - VICTOR DID NOT PLAN THE PUSH
I wanted Victor charged with everything.
That was anger.
Evidence was narrower.
He knew Adrian and Lucia were struggling.
He knew Adrian was documenting her behavior.
He knew Adrian had asked lawyers about temporary capacity issues.
He knew Lucia’s voting shares mattered.
He did not know Adrian was covertly giving her medication.
At least investigators found no proof he did.
He did not know Adrian planned to push her.
No message.
No witness.
No financial transfer tied to it.
Then the day of the fall.
Why was Victor near the house?
Adrian had texted:
Need you here after I talk to Lucia.
Victor:
About proxy?
Adrian:
Everything.
Victor drove toward the Costa residence.
Before he arrived, Adrian pushed Lucia.
Then called:
She fell. Come now.
Victor reached the house.
Lucia accused Adrian immediately.
Victor’s response was not:
Call police.
It was:
“Everybody calm down.”
He told the housekeeper not to discuss “family allegations” with anyone until counsel arrived.
That was wrong.
When ambulance staff came, he repeated:
“Pregnancy dizziness.”
Then at the ER he blocked me from reaching Lucia.
Grabbed for the phone.
Why?
Victor admitted later:
“I thought whatever was on it would destroy Adrian before we knew what happened.”
There.
Protect son first.
Truth second.
Not mastermind.
Still consequential.
The prosecutor reviewed potential obstruction theories.
Because the housekeeper had already spoken freely to paramedics and no evidence was destroyed, the case against Victor was limited.
He ultimately faced no major felony charge.
But his role became important in civil proceedings and family boundaries.
