Chapter 26 - ROSE BECOMES PROTECTOR OBSERVER

At twenty-seven, Rose was invited to observe one heritage council meeting.

Not because she inherited power automatically.

Because trust policy allowed adult descendants to learn if they wanted.

She was a pediatric physical therapist.

Had zero interest in hotel governance.

She attended once.

Afterward:

“This is horrible.”

“What?”

“Three hours about roof tax credits.”

“Legacy.”

“Sell everything.”

I laughed.

“Your grandmother Evelyn would haunt you.”

“She can submit written comments.”

Perfect.

Rose chose no formal role.

The trust amended succession planning so my eventual replacement would be selected by an independent council with descendant preference only if qualified and willing.

No birthright throne.
