Chapter 26 - SABRINA’S HAIR

Years later, at Bella’s wedding, I saw Sabrina across the room.

We had not spoken in six years.

Her hair was silver at the temples.

Beautifully styled.

No uneven sections.

Grace, twenty-seven, stood beside me.

“You okay?”

“Yes.”

“Want to leave?”

“No.”

Choice.

Sabrina approached only after Grace nodded permission.

She looked at my daughter.

“I’m sorry.”

Grace said:

“I know.”

Sabrina swallowed.

Then looked at me.

“I’m sorry to you too.”

I answered:

“I know.”

No hug.

No reunion.

At dinner, Bella wore her hair down.

Grace complimented it.

May you like

No one flinched.

That was enough.
