Chapter 25 - GRACE LEARNS THE MONEY

Grace knew a trust existed long before she knew its size.
At eighteen, Meredith Shaw walked her through everything.
Shares.
Cedar Point proceeds.
Diversified investments.
Taxes.
Voting rights.
Conflict policies.
Historical restitution.
Grace listened for forty minutes.
Then asked:
“Can I leave?”
Meredith smiled.
“After we discuss liquidity.”
Grace groaned.
Good.
She studied pediatric occupational therapy.
No family development business.
No obligation.
At twenty-five she gained broader authority.
Kept independent fiduciaries for major company interests.
“Grandma’s story taught me one thing,” she said.
“What?”
“I do not want relatives being my internal controls.”
Excellent.
She eventually sold part of her Brooks Harbor exposure through an orderly transaction.
Diversified.
No betrayal.

Money served her.
She did not serve money.
