Vivian could say:
I broke the medicine.
She could say:
I should not have held Noah away.
She could even say:
I was wrong.
What she could not say was:
I used the baby to make Claire obey.
Because that sentence destroyed the identity she still wanted.
Helper.
Matriarch.
Experienced mother.
Protector of family.
Pressure meant coercion.
Coercion meant the family tradition was not care delivered badly.
It was control.
Her attorney told her:
"You may lose more by fighting this wording."
Vivian answered:
"Then I lose more."
The case proceeded.
At the same time, the protective-order hearing approached.

Her lawyer suggested seeking a negotiated protective order regardless of criminal case.
Vivian agreed to no contact with Noah temporarily but wanted direct communication with me.
