Chapter 22 - I REMOVE MY FATHER FROM ONE DOCUMENT

My estate plan named Dad as temporary financial adviser if I became incapacitated.
I changed it.
Independent fiduciary instead.
Dad learned later.
He was offended.
“Why?”
“Because you are my father.”
“That is not an answer.”
“It is exactly the answer.”
He stared.
Then:
“You trust strangers more?”
“With fiduciary administration? Sometimes.”
He shook his head.
“Unbelievable.”
I smiled.
“You taught me to protect my assets.”
“From husbands.”
“From everyone.”
That silenced him.
Eventually he nodded.
