Chapter 16 - MY MISTAKE WITH THE COMPANY

I made another bad choice two months later.
A Kane-owned security subsidiary had a contract with one Fiorentino hotel group.
I learned Raymond personally approved the CEO years earlier.
I ordered a nonrenewal.
Reason in my email:
Governance risk.
The procurement director called.
“Have they failed performance?”
“No.”
“Pricing?”
“Competitive.”
“Security incident?”
“No.”
“Then what governance risk?”
I stared at the screen.
The answer was:
Raymond.
Not the company.
I withdrew the instruction before formal notice went out.
Then asked for normal rebid at contract expiration.
Kane Security won again by a narrow margin under an independent process.
I hated it.

Approved it.
That was what boundaries looked like when they were real instead of emotional.
