Chapter 25 - HEARTHSTONE AT FIFTY

Hearthstone Foods celebrated fifty years under professional leadership.

No Reed chair.

Employee seats.

Independent safety board.

Resident? No.

This was food, not healthcare.

Driver council.

Vendor council.

The descendant trust held smaller protections.

The restaurants remained profitable.

The food-distribution division had been partly sold and partly rebuilt.

School contracts improved nutrition standards after independent review.

No family portrait dominated headquarters.

Samuel Reed’s photograph hung with founders’ history.

Robert’s too.

Daniel appeared in the fleet-safety history as an employee whose warnings contributed to later reforms.

Accurate.

Not sanctified.

Lily joined the anniversary only as a beneficiary guest.

She wore sneakers.

Of course.

A reporter asked:

“Will you ever run Hearthstone?”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“I’m a veterinarian.”

“Does the family trust matter to you?”

“Yes. So do good trustees.”

Less glamorous.

More useful.

Ethan worked in software.

Claire remained in hospital outreach.

No heirs competing for the throne.

May you like

Because the throne had been dismantled.

That was the actual inheritance.
