Chapter 22 - DIANE DOWNSIZES
Diane sold her large house.
Not because I forced her.
She could afford it.
She chose to reduce expenses after restitution, legal fees, and the loss of my monthly support.
She moved into a smaller townhouse.
No tragedy.
No starvation.
No moral punishment where the villain becomes destitute.
Emily later told Naomi that Diane joined a budgeting program through her community center.
I did not need the information.
Still, I was glad.
The dramatic line:
That’s the last piece of meat you’ll ever eat in your life.
Was thoroughly disproven.
Diane bought groceries.
Sometimes chicken.
Apparently even steak when it went on sale.
Good.
My boundary was never supposed to control her diet.
It was supposed to end my funding.
There is a difference between stopping support and wanting someone to suffer.
