Chapter 24 - ROSALIE DOES NOT SIT ACROSS FROM BRADY
The Collins attorney had a right to challenge the evidence.
Rosalie did not need to be placed in the same room unnecessarily.
The hearing officer allowed her earlier recorded forensic-style interview and a short live appearance by video from another room for limited questions.
I sat outside.
Not beside her.
Dr. Ruiz sat nearby.
The hearing officer asked:
“Rosalie, do you know Brady Collins?”
“Yes.”
“Did he ask you to make a recording?”
“Yes.”
“Did he tell you what to say?”
“Yes.”
“What did you think would happen if you did not?”
“My backpack creek.”
“Why?”
“He said.”
Then Collins counsel, carefully.
“Rosalie, have you ever been angry at Brady?”
“Yes.”
“Did you ever tell him your dad could get him arrested?”
“Yes.”
“Did Brady ever hit you?”
“No.”
“Did Jasper?”
“No.”
“Did you push Jasper?”
“Yes.”
“Throw his cap?”
“Yes.”
Good.
No child forced into purity.
Then:
“Could you have misunderstood a trade between Milo and Brady?”
Rosalie thought.
“The cards?”
“Yes.”
“Milo said no.”
“Did you hear Milo say no before Brady took them?”
“I heard he said give back.”
Precise enough.
Then the hearing officer ended.
Rosalie returned to class.
No closing speech.
