Chapter 18 - THE MISSING CARDS

Two of Milo’s cards remained missing.

Everyone wanted them found in Brady’s room.

They were not.

Police were not searching a thirteen-year-old’s house over low-value baseball cards without appropriate cause.

Kathleen voluntarily checked belongings with Brady.

Nothing.

Then Brady admitted:

He traded one card to another student.

He lost the other.

That student’s parent confirmed a trade had happened.

Did the receiving child know Milo had not freely given the card?

No.

The card was returned to Milo voluntarily.

The other remained gone.

Market value:

$18.

Emotional value:

Higher because it came from his grandfather.

Brady’s family reimbursed replacement value and offered to purchase an equivalent card.

Milo said:

“No.”

Why?

“Not same.”

Correct.

Some losses do not get fixed because money exists.

Brady wrote an apology.

Milo declined to read it.

Also allowed.
