Chapter 15 - NOAH’S SEVENTH BIRTHDAY

I did not tell Noah any of this.

His seventh birthday came on a cold Saturday in October.

Ten children.

Bowling alley.

Pizza.

Apple juice.

I almost changed the drink choice because the symbolism felt too obvious.

Then I stopped treating my son’s preferences like evidence.

He liked apple juice.

We served apple juice.

My parents were not invited.

Lauren came with Ava and Grace.

That surprised me.

Noah hesitated when he saw them.

Then Grace handed him a gift.

A Lego space station.

“You can open it now.”

Mom used to make children wait.

Noah looked at me.

“Can I?”

“Yes.”

He tore the paper.

Normal.

That morning, his trust branch formally activated.

Paper value:

Approximately $1.6 million.

Not a child millionaire.

Professionally managed.

Education.

Health.

Housing support later.

No unrestricted access.

Most important:

Activation triggered the equalization audit.

Rina Patel was appointed forensic accountant.

Dad called her a “hired executioner.”

Rina described herself as a CPA.

I liked her immediately.
