Chapter 13 - KEVIN

Lauren’s husband Kevin knew more.

He had helped complete the Harbor transfer.

Dad told him:

“Ethan is backing us.”

Kevin assumed I agreed.

Or claimed he did.

Bank messages showed Kevin once asked:

Does Ethan understand this is tied to Lauren’s advance?

Dad replied:

He understands family obligations.

Not yes.

Kevin accepted the answer.

Why?

Because $280,000 arrived.

People become poor investigators when the truth might stop a transfer.

Kevin’s contracting business was struggling.

He used $72,000 from the loan to pay debts.

The rest supported the home.

No gambling.

No mistress.

No secret offshore scheme.

Just a family living above what they could afford because everyone kept protecting them from consequences.

At mediation years later, Kevin said:

“Every rescue made the next rescue easier to ask for.”

That was true of all of us.
