Rose and June became friends before they became sisters emotionally.
Not best friends.
Different schools.
Different mothers.
Different lives.
They saw each other several times a year.
At eighteen, Rose chose to use Holt professionally.
June kept Mercer initially, then later used Claire’s maiden surname, Bennett, as a middle name.

June became interested in neonatal nursing.

She laughed.
“Because babies?”

At one dinner Rose said:
