The screening test was not enough.
Elias explained that five times.

Bianca hated hearing uncertainty.

The result arrived the next afternoon.
A prescription sedative was present.
Not prescribed to Bianca.

Could the lab tell how it entered her body?

No.
Could it prove every prior dizzy episode was the same medication?

That was the proper claim.
Then pregnancy.
Elias explained:
“The amount detected does not by itself establish fetal injury.”
Monitoring remained reassuring.
No regular contractions.
No placental abnormality on ultrasound.
Bianca stayed overnight.
The baby moved normally.
No miracle.
No guarantee.
Just reassuring evidence.
Then Gavin’s medication history.
Police obtained records through lawful process.
Nine months earlier, Gavin had been prescribed the same medication briefly after a severe back spasm.
A small quantity.
No refills.

“I discarded the remainder.”

He could not remember.

That did not prove absence earlier.
