Chapter 14 - LENORA’S ROLE
Lenora’s lawyers argued she had not drugged Bianca.
Technically, video showed Gavin placing something in the cup.
Not Lenora.
So we kept language precise.
She knew.
She facilitated.
She threatened.
She participated in coercion.
But Gavin physically put the substance into the tea.
Then the documents.
Lenora had written several provisions by hand before sending them to Wesley Trent.
Wesley testified:
“Mrs. Rusk said Bianca wanted a stronger family arrangement before childbirth.”
Did he know Bianca was not his client?
Yes.
Did he advise independent counsel?
His cover email did.
One sentence:
Bianca should obtain independent legal advice before execution.
Gavin never showed her that email.
Wesley’s conduct was reviewed by his firm.
No criminal conspiracy found.
He had drafted aggressive documents based on false information.
That was enough professional embarrassment.
Then Lenora’s motive.
Her late husband had died leaving a small construction company with heavy debt.
She and Gavin spent years rebuilding.
She distrusted families with inherited wealth.
She once told Bianca:
“Money you did not earn makes you think exits are free.”
Bianca remembered laughing.
Now she understood.
Lenora believed a rich wife could always leave.
So marriage had to be financially fused enough that leaving hurt.
Not law.
Philosophy.
She told Gavin:
“A marriage where only one side can walk away is employment.”
Gavin believed her.
Except Bianca could not walk away without consequence.
Divorce hurts emotionally.
Marital assets divide.
Children complicate life.
Lenora saw only money.
Then me.
I represented the thing she feared.
