Chapter 15 - BIANCA REFUSES MY SOLUTION

I offered Bianca a house.
Not the one she shared with Gavin.
A townhouse I owned near the hospital.
Three bedrooms.
Private courtyard.
Security garage.
She said no.
“Why?”
“I don’t want to move from one man’s property into another man’s property.”
I stared.
“I’m your father.”
“Yes.”
“That is not the same.”
“No.”
Then:
“But it can feel the same when you decide everything before asking.”
I sat back.
There are moments when children explain your whole personality with one sentence.
She rented a townhouse herself.
Lease in her name.
Paid from her separate funds and temporary support arrangement.
I offered security.
She accepted one monitored alarm and a driver only for court days.
No permanent guards.
Then baby supplies.
I ordered a crib.
She canceled it.
“I already bought one.”
I bought a stroller.
Returned.
“Dad.”
“Fine.”
“You don’t get to build the nursery because Gavin tried to own my decisions.”
“I know.”
“Do you?”
“Yes.”
Slowly.
Then medical care.
Elias remained involved.
Bianca’s obstetrician took primary pregnancy care.
No evidence of fetal growth restriction.
No signs of placental abruption.
Her blood pressure stabilized.
The medication exposure was documented.
Specialists did not promise zero risk.
They monitored.
At thirty-five weeks, growth remained appropriate.
Bianca cried in the ultrasound room.

Not because something was wrong.
Because something was normal.
