The first forensic report was careful.
The disputed Celeste signatures were not naturally written signatures.
Indicators:
Slow line quality.
Unusual pen lifts.
Hesitation.
Patchwork strokes.
One signature contained evidence consistent with simulation from a model.
Not proof yet of who wrote it.
Then comparison to Helena.
The examiner did not say:
identical handwriting.
She said several disputed letter formations were strongly consistent with Helena’s known writing habits and inconsistent with Celeste’s natural signature patterns.
More testing.
Ink.
Paper.
Printer.
Then the household acknowledgment Celeste admitted signing.
Natural signature.
Flowing.
Different.
The blank signature-confirmation sheet remained missing.
But high-resolution scans of the disputed papers suggested the writer had copied from a recent exemplar.
Then one microscopic feature.
A tiny ink dot before the first stroke of the signature.
Like a pen had been placed, paused, then moved.
Helena often paused before copying formal names in greeting cards.
Not enough alone.
Combined?
Increasingly strong.
Then the handwritten note from the table.
No family staff in room until signing complete.
Confirmed Helena’s hand.
No dispute.
Then the custody papers.
Printer metadata showed they had been printed from a computer in the Ravello estate administration office.

Marina’s credentials.
She went pale when police asked.
“I didn’t print them.”
“Who knows your password?”
“Mother.”
Why?
Helena regularly used Marina’s workstation because she claimed her own laptop was too small.
Security logs showed Helena’s phone connected to the office Wi-Fi at the time of printing.
Marina was at a charity luncheon across town.
Verified.
That reduced one suspicion.
Then document creation.
Files originated from Helena’s private tablet cloud account.
There.
Not final motive.
Not whole plan.
But authorship of the drafts.
Helena’s attorney called them hypothetical templates.
Maybe.
Then investigators found the file history.
