Chapter 12 - THE PROTECTIVE ORDER
Celeste requested a civil protective order against Helena.
Not because I ordered it.
Because Naomi explained options.
Allegations:
Battery from dumping water and causing the slip.
Coercive control.
Taking the phone during the signing episode.
Forgery-related intimidation.
Threats concerning separation from the unborn child.
The judge entered temporary restrictions pending hearing.
No direct contact.
No visits to the estate wing occupied by Celeste.
No communication through staff.
No handling of Celeste’s medical or legal documents.
No attendance at the hospital for delivery without written invitation.
Marina’s situation was different.
Celeste requested no-contact conditions initially because Marina had participated in the papers and the confrontation.
Marina opposed.
At hearing, the judge reviewed:
Marina’s false witness signature.
Knowledge of the intended placement.
Failure to return Celeste’s phone herself? Actually phone on sideboard and Celeste could access; not strong.
Her statement:
“The heir stays. She doesn’t.”
That mattered.
Then no evidence Marina physically restrained Celeste or forged the signature.
The court ordered limited no-contact for ninety days, with communication only through counsel, subject to review after delivery.
No automatic permanent ban.
Good.
Then hospital.
Security flag placed on Celeste’s chart.
Authorized visitors determined only by Celeste.
Infant discharge:
Only to parents absent court order.
No Marina caregiver authorization recognized without direct verification from both parents.
No relying on copies carried in by relatives.
The hospital attorney thanked Naomi.
Then changed internal process:
Any unusual third-party newborn discharge authorization required independent confirmation with the patient, privately.
