Chapter 15 - THE WOMAN IN OKLAHOMA

There was another woman.
Her name was Brooke Ellis.
She worked on Daniel’s Oklahoma project.
Their affair had lasted five months.
I almost laughed when investigators told me.
Not because it was funny.
Because the marriage had become so full of violations that adultery felt strangely ordinary.
Brooke cooperated.
She believed Daniel and I were separating.
He told her:
Hannah is unstable.
Mom is helping with the girls.
The new baby is another girl.
All lies.
Brooke had asked:
“Why not wait until after she gives birth?”
Daniel:
“Because if I wait, she’ll use the baby to keep me in Texas.”
But he knew the baby was male.
His story changed depending on audience.
To Margaret, daughters were shame.
To Brooke, I was unstable.
To lawyer, I was a custody risk.

To me, Margaret forced him.
Every version made Daniel less responsible.
