Chapter 12 - THE LAWYER SAID NO
Daniel had consulted family attorney Marcus Hill.
Marcus’s notes eventually became relevant through court-approved disclosure of nonprivileged administrative records and Daniel’s own communications.
Daniel asked:
“If my wife has another mental-health episode, can I take the children to Oklahoma?”
Marcus:
“Not without consent or court order.”
Daniel:
“What if she is hospitalized?”
Marcus:
“Temporary care can be arranged, but custody does not automatically transfer.”
Daniel:
“What if she becomes violent?”
Marcus:
“Document legitimate incidents. Do not provoke.”
Daniel:
“What about trust funds?”
Marcus:
“That is separate. You must disclose any conflict.”
Marcus had warned him.
No crooked lawyer.

Daniel ignored ordinary legal answers because ordinary law did not guarantee the outcome he wanted.
