Chapter 7 - WHY THROW AWAY CHEAP CLOTHES?
I thought Sylvia threw away Nina’s clothes because she was a snob.
That was only partly true.
The deeper reason appeared inside the trust file.
First Mountain had scheduled a beneficiary-family review for the following week.
Routine after the disputed proxy surfaced.
A trust officer would meet:

Nina separately for a short age-appropriate conversation.
Potential family advisers.
The review included household expenditure questions.
Why did Nina’s trust reimburse forty-two thousand dollars in clothing when her mother reported no such support?
Somebody knew the question was coming.
Sylvia needed a plausible answer.
She had purchased expensive replacement clothing three days before dinner.
Receipts:
$4,860.
Charged to her card.
Reimbursement request drafted but not yet submitted.
The plan?
Photograph Nina wearing the items.
Create an updated “wardrobe inventory.”
Claim prior clothes were regularly replaced because Rachel failed to maintain an appropriate standard.
In Sylvia’s words, later recovered:
Rachel sends her looking neglected, so we constantly have to replace things.
The problem?
Nina refused to wear Vivian’s old dress while her newly purchased outfit was supposedly “being altered.”
