Sylvia eventually admitted more than Charles.
She had created the alternate email account.
Why?
“Rachel ignored trust correspondence.”
True.
Sometimes.
“I wanted a way to keep documents organized.”
False excuse.
Did she send messages pretending to be me?
One.
Then two.
Eventually:
“Yes.”
Did Charles know?
“He knew I handled Rachel communications.”
“That was not the question.”
She cried.
“I told him Rachel had approved keeping things stable.”
Not enough for full exoneration.
Not enough for every charge.
Then clothing reimbursements.
“Why bill Nina’s trust for clothes Vivian wore?”
“They were family purchases.”
“Whose trust?”
“Nina’s.”
“Was Vivian a beneficiary?”
“No.”
“Why keep refunds?”
“I intended to offset future expenses.”
“Did you?”
No.
Then my clothes.
“Why throw them away?”
Sylvia stared.
“They looked cheap.”
“And you needed photographs?”
Silence.
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because Rachel made us look like we did nothing for Nina.”
